The holiday season is synonymous with a few key moments. A big one for me is the iconic Hershey’s Kisses commercial where the chocolates cosplay as bells playing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” In fact, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the legendary commercial, and Hershey’s is celebrating in big style.

The company has come out with an all-new kiss flavor inspired by a classic snickerdoodle. Curious to see how it stacked up to the original, I visited not one, but two, stores to get my hands on a bag of the festive new candy. Here’s how it went.

What You Should Know About Hershey’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Kisses

The OG Hershey’s Kisses are beloved, but that hasn’t stopped the brand from launching equally delicious riffs, including several seasonal flavors like Hot Cocoa and Candy Cane. Its latest iteration is the perfect backdrop for comforting spices abundant this time of year, like cinnamon (one of my absolute favorites).

Ditching the silver, Hershey’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Kisses are individually wrapped in festive star-patterned bronze foil (it’s giving gift wrap) with a snickerdoodle-stamped paper tag. Inside, the white creme kisses are snickerdoodle-flavored and studded with crunchy cookie pieces.

The limited-edition flavor launched just in time for the holiday season, perfect for gifting, leaving a bowl out to snack on, or stuffing in a stocking. You can find Hershey’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Kisses at retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Amazon.

My Honest Review of Hershey’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Kisses

Admittedly I’m a big dark chocolate fan, but these little kisses impressed me. As soon as I opened the bag, I was hit with a sweet, cinnamony, spiced aroma. (It reminded me of a fall candle from Bath and Body Works.)

However, the flavor itself is more subtle. The kisses were very sweet and the crème melted in my hands as I took a bite.  Plus, the cinnamon totally mimicked everything I want in a snickerdoodle cookie — sweet with an essence of spice that reads holidays. I especially loved the whole cookie pieces inside that provided just the right amount of crunch.

Mara, our director of groceries & shopping, was also into the new flavor. “It tastes just like a snickerdoodle. I can totally picture myself lounging in a cozy lodge with a handful of these.”

I also think they’d be a festive swap in these peanut butter blossoms. Hershey’s seems to agree; the bag has a recipe for snickerdoodle blossoms on the back.
